JONES, Bill  (Sometimes known as Bill A. Jones), born in Nashville, Tennessee; worked at a number of stations in and around Music City U.S.A. until moving to L.A. in late 1987 to pursue an acting career.

Formative gigs were as diverse as top-40 mornings on Nashville’s “M-96;” country mornings and later a morning talk show on suburban WMTS-AM, Murfreesboro; beautiful music on WZEZ; brief stints on 92Q and WMAK, and eventually to WAMB (Nostalgia/Big Band), where Bill was voted one of Middle Tennessee’s top ten air personalities in the Nashville Tennessean’s 1986 Reader’s Poll.

After a couple of months of pounding the LA pavement for acting work, Bill put together an aircheck for what was then called Transtar Radio Network (later Unistar; now WW1) where he was promptly hired to do weekends on AM Only/Adult Standards, (heard on
KMPC in 1988) and shortly afterwards to full time on Transtar’s soft AC format “Special Blend.”

Bill remained with both formats until January of ‘90 when he gave up the “Special Blend” gig to give more time to his acting career.  Four or five months of pavement pounding later, Dan McKay asked Bill to come to what would be the last incarnation of “K-Lite” (
KLIT-FM), where he would later go full time 7-12 Midnight, and eventually be replaced by a tape machine due to budget cutbacks.

All during this time, Bill hung onto his weekend position with WW1’s AM Only/Adult Standards format, (now
Dial-Global Network) where he remains to this day, and can be heard on over 200 stations nationwide.
